the new addition to the family...

did i make anyone think this was a "i am pregnant!" post?
well, it is not.
as mentioned in this post, i re-did an ottoman this weekend and i am more than proud. i am no young house love, but, have a love for interior design and diy (aka i love a good bargain). so, lillian and i drove out to the ballard design outlet here in atlanta (thanks sue for the tip!) and happened across this ottoman.

originally $289.99 it was marked down to $79.99 and the store was having an additional 30% off sale on all upholstered pieces. so, deciding this was too good a deal to pass up, i decided to purchase without measuring (with a no refund policy. i am such a risk taker, i know).
i knew the color was all wrong but thought because it was perfectly square and the legs just screwed off that i could do the re-upholstery myself. so, i flag the ottoman sold and we walked over to the fabrics.
to my delight (and lilly's, she just doesn't know it yet) they were having an additional 50% off fabrics and i happened across a beautiful almost ikat pattern in a cream and taupe color. $7.99 half off for 2 yards? sold.

so, off we went back home to nap (lillian) and recover (me). and the best part? we were only $60 poorer.

so, after attending to my little nugget and watching her successful and adorably snuggle up to her giraffe and pass out, i created this....

obviously, the dogs were in love, look at the grin on georgia's face!

here it is styled in our room...

i am in love! it finishes the room perfectly and is much better for a growing babe learning to walk and bump into everything. (we had an old trunk there before that wasn't as suitable).
hank's response? he loves to put his feet up on it.
lillian's response? zzzz.

happy mama :)

  1. I LOVE the ottoman Molly - it turned out great, but you know what I love even more? The fact that you guys built a fire even though it was 70 degrees outside. That is great! :)
